"Dress for the job you want"... starts with your CV

This came up as I was mentoring someone today. She spoke about some of the superpowers she has, mentioning examples from working in a fast-paced unstructured environment in which she had enjoyed herself but burned out, and was wondering how to speak about them so they get recognized.

I offered her ways to frame this in her CV but only if:
- her intention is to keep working the way she's been working so far;
- and so the message she wants to give the reader is that she's a Wonderwoman, willing and ready to perform countless acts of wonders in her future role.

She didn't want either. She simply wanted to share all the amazing things she's done in her career.

If that's you as well, I get it. You've done great work and you want the world to know about it, and use the recognition to unlock more doors out there. But if you want something different for yourself in the future, if you want to open a new type of door, be mindful of what you choose to highlight at every opportunity you get to present yourself.
